I haven’t been in touch for a while and could excuse the fact by saying I’ve been busy, but it would be more accurate to say that I keep falling in love with all the projects I’m juggling and haven’t made blogging a priority. As it’s been a while since I last posted an update and recently switched-up the blog, I thought I’d let you know a little of what I’ve been up to this year.
My main focus has been writing my first collection ‘Raw Light and Shadows’. The first draft of the book should be done in the next few months. The second half of completing the book, I have to keep under my hat for a while. What I can say for now, is the book will hopefully be a departure from the tradition of black ink and white paper.
Due to focusing on my book, I’ve stepped back from performing regularly, but will be back very soon. One opportunity I couldn’t pass up recently was performing at ‘Wordsmith’s & Co’ run by Nine Arches Press and Apple & Snakes with support from Bloodaxe Books and Wardwick Arts Centre. There should be a video of one of the pieces I performed surfacing at some point soon.
Lastly, I was lucky enough to be one of the writers chosen to be part of ‘The Final Stage’ project run by Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze (MBE) with support from Renaissance One, Writing East Midlands, Embrace Arts and Nottingham Playhouse. Jean has been mentoring me along with other members of the group and a showcase has been planned for November. I’ll let you know more closer to the date.
All the best,
